Where you have a concentration of power in a few hands, all too frequently men with the mentality of gangsters get control. History has proven that. It seems to be the fate of idealists to obtain what they have struggled for in a form which destroys their ideals.

Say what you want but the past government now lies, an object of contempt, while I, proud victor, raise my voice in praise of fate, who gives such victories. While all my subjects, in spontaneous exuberance, raise a cheer for my deliverance. The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting. And so it is with power, to control the people without conflict.
